Built out of 1/4” aluminum sheet, the shelter is sturdy and affordable. The standard size is 4’H X 4’W X 8’L giving you 32 square feet of floor space and a total of 128 cubic feet, plenty of room for most families. It weighs about 700 pounds. The structure has a 32 square inch door in the top. The door is vented and there is an additional vent on the opposite end of the shelter. The unit can be anchored in a basement, in a work shop or shed, or placed under the garage floor of a newly constructed home. In mobile home parks, it could be installed under the slab of each mobile home. Only the door and vent would be uncovered. The seams are welded inside and out to prevent ground water from seeping in.

The unit is reinforced with and an external stiffener made from 2 X 2 X ¼ aluminum square tubing. The hatch is reinforced with 3 X 5 X 3/8 aluminum angle. Special spring-loaded latches and a 1 ½ inch solid aluminum rod hold the door closed once everyone is safely inside. Touch lights, weather radios, and emergency kits can easily be stored inside to keep you comfortable during a weather emergency. The shelter may be shipped anywhere within the continental US.
